The EORTC offers a one-year research fellowship (renewable to a maximum of 3 years with the possibility of a PhD) to a young medical physics researcher interested in being involved in clinical trials. The focus of the fellow’s work will be on quality assurance and quality improvement in radiation oncology. The fellow will be learning clinical trial methodology as well as getting acquainted with all the skills necessary to effectively store, process and analyze clinical trial radiotherapy data for QA, NTCP modelling and data-driven quality improvement, with emphasis on RT plan analysis. The fellow will work under mentorship of a senior member of the EORTC RTQA Team, with local supervision by EORTC HQ staff, and will have access to training courses in clinical trial methodology, statistics and radiation therapy physics.
Specific projects will depend on the fellow’s skills and profile. Prospective projects could include Statistical Process Control applied to RT QA, on-site investigation of proton therapy QA methodology, NTCP model validation.
EORTC promotes multidisciplinary cancer research in Europe. EORTC research is conducted in over 300 university hospitals in 32 countries. Its network of investigators comprises more than 2500 scientists and clinicians collaborating in 20 multidisciplinary groups.
Profile/Skills:
- Be a young medical physics (35 years maximum)
- Have a focus or interest in cancer clinical research
- Preferably has clinical research background
- Be fluent in English
- Be computer literate
- Ability to script/code in Python, R or equivalent for DICOM data analysis is a plus.
- Be able to work in an international environment
- Have excellent communication skills and team spirit
Support to the fellow is provided by a multidisciplinary staff including medical doctors and biostatisticians. The fellowship will take place at the EORTC Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
