Brendan McClean is currently Director of Physics at St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network in Dublin, Ireland. Prior to this appointment in 1995 he worked at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Canada as a radiotherapy medical physicist. He has an Adjunct Professor position and co-supervises PhD students at University College Dublin School of Physics. He teaches at graduate and undergraduate physics courses and for the Specialist Registrar Fellowship training programme. He is also active in ESTRO and was part of the ESTRO Physics Committee for many years. He has an ongoing interest in dose calculation in radiotherapy and has been part of the faculty of the ESTRO Dose Modelling and Verification course since 2008. He is the programme director for the CAMPEP accredited Irish Radiotherapy Physics Residency programme. Since 2005 he has served as physics lead to the Irish National Cancer Control Programme.

Prof Seco graduated with a PhD from the University of London, at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. He then went on to become an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, working at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). He then returned to Europe to work at the German Cancer Research Center, DKFZ in Heidelberg, heading up a new group dedicated to ion beam research and with the focus on 1) novel imaging technologies to reduce Bragg peak positioning errors in patients and 2) on investigating the mechanism of radiation triggered DNA damage via reactive oxygen species. He is also presently the Chair of Medical Physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Heidelberg University and is a member of the EFOMP Scientific Committee, representing the DGMP, German Society for Medical Physics. 

Brenda Byrne is a Principal Physicist working in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland since November 2000. The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is a large teaching hospital. The hospital is part of the Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG) and provides a range of frontline and specialist services on a regional and national level.
Brenda completed her undergraduate degree BA (Mod) in Experimental Physics in Trinity College Dublin in June 2000. Following on from her degree, she graduated with her Master’s degree in Physical Sciences in Medicine also in Trinity College Dublin in September 2002. Her primary areas of interest are diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation protection. She has been a registered radiation protection adviser (RPA) since April 2000 in Ireland and is the RPA for three hospitals within the IEHG hospital group. She has been on the voluntary register of medical physics experts (MPEs) since 2005 and was a governor of the Irish College of Physicists in Medicine (ICPM) from 2010 to 2016. The ICPM is the voluntary registration body for Medical Physicists in Ireland.  She is a past treasurer of the national association for medical physicists in Ireland (2002-2005).
Brenda undertook the EFOMP EUTEMPE Course MPE01 Leadership in Medical Physics, Development of the profession and the challenges for the MPE  and passed the course with a distinction in February 2019. She is now a module co-leader for this course.  She is an occasional lecturer with the University College Dublin, School of Diagnostic Imaging and the Royal College of Surgeons, Faculty of Radiology, Dublin.  She is a current member of Irish Association of Physicists in Medicine (IAPM), Irish College of Physicists in Medicine (ICPM) and Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) (overseas member).

Rafael Ayala is a senior medical physicist working at Gregorio Marañón hospital, Madrid. Rafael has more than ten years of experience in the field of radiotherapy. His areas of interest are external and intra-operative radiotherapy, although early in his career he was also involved in image quality assessment for X-ray devices. He is specially focused on designing tools for scientific computing that improve treatment safety, refine quality controls of the linacs and/or streamline treatment planning workflows.

At the moment, he is actively involved in the training of several courses for medical physics in training organised by the Spanish Society of Medical Physics (SEFM).

Eeva Boman works as a department chief physicist in a busy radiotherapy clinic in Tampere University Hospital, Tampere, Finland. Eeva has over ten years of experience as a qualified medical physicist in the field of radiotherapy. She has also oversees experience when working as visiting senior medical physicist in the Wellington Blood & Cancer Center, Wellington, New Zealand.

Eeva has a long history of confidential posts, latest last two years being the president of the Finnish Association of Medical Physicists and being the board member several years before that.

Eeva holds associate professorship from the field of radiation oncology physics in the Tampere University. Her main research interest has been in developing new radiotherapy practices mainly in the field of VMAT treatment planning, IRGT and HDR. She have written or participated the research of more than 20 pre-reviewed publications and several conference proceedings. She have also been a reviewer of scientific papers. Eeva’s PhD thesis focused on mathematical modelling of Boltzmann transport equation (2007).

Stephane Chauvie is an Italian physicist with a post-graduate degree in medical physics at university of Torino and in healthcare management at university of Roma “La Sapienza”.
Since 2012 he’s director of health physics division in Santa Croce and Carle hospital, where he has been working since 2004. He’s a medical physics, nuclear magnetic resonance safety, and III-degree radiation protection expert.
He serves also as a consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and for several organs of the Italian Ministry of Economy (CONSIP) and Health (ISS and AGENAS).
He has teaching and training duties for bachelors, university degree (for nurses, technologists, lab-technicians, physicians and physicists) and post-degree (medical physicists), besides his long-standing activities in professional teaching of medical physicists and other healthcare professionals.
Stephane is a former scientific associate of European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and European Space Agency (ESA) where he was involved in Monte Carlo simulation of low-energy particle interaction with tissue at cellular level.
From 2012 he is the head of Cuneo Imaging Corelab performing clinical trials qualification on behalf of several international onco-haematological association (IELSG, FIL, SAKK, PLRG, GELTAMO) where he performs most of his research activity studying dosimetry and imaging biomarker for patient stratification, prognosis and therapy assessment (in over 30 clinical trials) and dosimetry.

Jaroslav Ptáček works as the head of the Department of Medical Physics and Radiation Protection in the University Hospital in Olomouc, Czech Republic. He is a medical physicist in nuclear medicine and focuses himself mainly on image processing, quality control and radiation protection. He is involved in teaching of medical physics and instrumentation in nuclear medicine and x-ray diagnostics in technologists education program. He is also involved in education and training of medical physicists in nuclear medicine in Czech Republic who are working on becoming qualified medical physicist. As a board member of Czech Association of Medical Physicists he is involved in professional matters of medical physicists in Czech Republic. Since 2013 he is a part of local organizing committee of ESMPE in Prague and since 2018 he is a secretary general of EFOMP.

Veronica Rossetti's main fields of interest are diagnostic and interventional radiology for adults and children, mammography, radiation protection, education and training.

Dr. Ioannis Tsougos holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Master’s and Doctorate in Medical Radiation Physics and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Education. He has studied and trained in London Metropolitan University and King’s College London (UK), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), Emory University (USA), University of Edinburgh (UK), University of Patras (Greece). Currently, he is a Professor of Medical Radiation Physics in the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, Larissa, Greece and visiting Faculty at King’s College London, Department of Neuroimaging. He has authored more than 100 research papers, 11 book chapters and an international book in Advanced MRI techniques. He is a member of the EFOMP, ESR, and ESMRMB. His main research interests are Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques and AI applications, Radiation Biology and Nuclear Medicine. He is the Head of the Master’s program “Biomedical Imaging and Radiation Protection” (www.birp.med.uth.gr) and the Head of the Medical Informatics and Biomedical Imaging Lab.
