NACP webinar series "QA and Patient Dosimetry in Radiology"
About NACP-RPC
The Nordic Association for Clinical Physics (NACP) is an umbrella organization for all medical physicists working in the Nordic countries. One of the sub-committees of the NACP is the Radiological Physics committee (RPC), which have been organizing courses in diagnostic physics every 2 years for the past decade. This year the course will be digital for the first time, and the topic will be “Quality Assurance and Patient Dosimetry in Radiology”. The course is constructed as a series of webinars (5 webinars, 3 hours each) from October to December 2021, and the webinars will be hosted by EFOMP using the GoToWebinar platform. We have a great variety of speakers from both inside and outside the Nordic countries.
Purpose of the course
The purpose of the course is to introduce medical physicists to new tools and methods that can be applied in QA routines to improve efficiency and quality of work. These methods include automation of image-based QA, application of model observers and AI-based image quality analysis. The course also includes topics related to patient specific dosimetry, dose tracking and protocol management systems; tools that are essential for a medical physicist. The course will also discuss how to adopt these topics in the training of future medical physicists. Every webinar will also include a practical demonstration of a QA- or dosimetry-related topic.
Who is the course meant for?
The RPC-course is mainly aimed at medical physicists working in radiology. The topics are especially suitable for physicists who are still in training, but historically we have had participation from medical physics experts (MPEs), radiographers, radiologists and technicians. The digital platform has support for up to 500 participants. This year’s course is mainly suitable for diagnostic physicists due to the QA-related topics, but this time we expect more participants from outside the Nordic countries.
Thie programme has been accredited by EBAMP as CPD event for Medical Physicists at EQF Level 7 and awarded 23 CPD credit points.

EFOMP-COCIR Webinars
A series of EFOMP-COCIR webinars are planned in March - November 2021.
Standards play a crucial part in our lives. In healthcare, standards have an indispensable role for the proper functioning of medical devices, for correct transmission of information, for therapy, for monitoring and support in treatment, and much more. Thus, standards help manufacturers to produce safe medical devices with constant high quality and, as such, help competent authorities to ensure that medical devices in their country provide the performance they want for their citizens.
All stakeholders are invited to participate in the drafting of international standards so that the requirements in these standards get the widest possible support. The rules under which standards are developed in IEC reflect six principles: openness, transparency, impartiality and consensus, effectiveness and relevance, coherence, and development dimension. This is to make sure that the result reflects the state of the art, regardless whether the experts are from industry, medical practice, test institutes, or authorities. Decisions come through voting by the National Committees. Having multiple rounds of commenting, redrafting, and voting, the standards mature to a level that is relevant for all stakeholders.

EFOMP-EUTEMPE Webinars
Providing experts in the field of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologic Physics with high-quality practical (EQF8) training is what the EUTEMPE team stands for. Unfortunately, COVID-19 is preventing us from doing this in the way we love: welcoming you to our facilities where you interact with our experts and gain practical experience, top level knowledge, skills and competencies. However, our aim of sharing our knowledge to help colleagues in our field grow as medical physicists has not changed!
We just needed to find other ways to do this! Hence, we are very happy to announce a series of EFOMP-EUTEMPE didactic webinars, followed by online masterclasses, which are free of charge.
The webinars will be in a familiar format, introducing a specific subject by means of a presentation, with room for interaction with the lecturers.
The online masterclass for each topic will follow on two weeks after the original webinar. The masterclasses, which have a greater number of educational hours, will provide the opportunity to delve deeper into the subject, gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the topic and helping cement the knowledge gained. The Masterclasses will consist of a mix of (short) lectures and short (group) assignments, and they will be highly interactive!
We’re looking forward to seeing you online soon!

Lockdown Webinars
The aim of these lockdown talks was to bring Medical Physicists closer together during the Covid-19 time and discuss new working arrangements and challenges in diagnosis and treatment, issues arising in our working environments, novel strategies applied and lessons learned that may improve our practices and services in the future.
Following on from EFOMP president's Marco Brambilla’s communication on the corona virus , it became clear that many physicists were having similar experiences in adapting their medical physics service in the covid Covid-19 era. It was also evident that sharing of good scientific knowledge and experience would help defeat the virus (or instead perhaps “would help in the fight against the virus”).
The webinars are organised by IAPM (Irish Association of Medical Physicists) and EFOMP with contribution from the Medical Physics societies of Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden and UK. Lectures have a duration of 45 minutes and 15 minutes discussion with audience interaction and polls.
Videorecordings will be permanently accessible via EFOMP's elearning platform
