Magnetic Resonance Imaging

SIG_MRI Aim

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The increasing role and activities of MPEs and MPs in MRI Safety, MRI Quality Assurance, including QCs both in clinical and research applications, strongly suggest the creation of an EFOMP SIG for networking, education, research and professional discussion in the field.

Furthermore, emerging advanced techniques and systems, such as MRI-LINAC, hybrid imaging modalities with MRI, ultra-low field and ultra-high field systems, as well as the use of AI in MRI, require a network of specific expertise.

The SIG activity will be conducted by means of focus groups that will be activated on the topic of patient and staff safety, QA and QC, qMRI, intercomparisons. A coordination of the focus groups activities will allow to organise harmonised education and training events.

The target of the SIG is to establish a network of medical physicists (MPs and MPEs) working in the field of MRI, addressing issues related to MRI Safety, MR quality, and with a focus on the clinical activities

The SIG will be EFOMP MRI home to foster ideas and creating education and reasearch opportunities for EFOMP members working in clinical, research and industry environments.

This SIG will operate under the Scientific Comittee and is established as a permanent structure of EFOMP.

SIG_MRI Application Procedure

EFOMP National Member Organisations Members, Individual Associate Members, Company Members, liaisons to EFOMP affiliated organisations can apply to be a member of this SIG electronically using the application form. A professional CV highlighting expertise in MRI (max 3 pages PDF only) is required to be submitted.

Applications can be sent anytime during the lifetime of the SIG. It is highly recommended, however, that interested colleagues apply as soon as possible to participate in the SIG MRI kick-off meeting, which will be held in January 2025.
