This GS 2020 side event will present the status, good practices, challenges and common issues in the implementation of the International Basic Safety Standards, GSR Part 3, in the TC region of Europe and Central Asia, based on the analyses of information in the IAEA database RASIMS 2.0, TSA3, Radiation protection in medical exposure. A recent survey regarding the availability of medical physicists in the region based on the implementation of the IAEA imaging medical physics staffing needs algorithm and possible steps forward will also be presented.
