The DKFZ International PhD Program in Heidelberg (also known as the Helmholtz International Graduate School for Cancer Research) is the interdisciplinary structured graduate school for all PhD students working at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). The PhD students conduct research at the forefront of basic, computational, epidemiological and translational cancer research.
Main research activities are focused on:
- Development of novel approaches in diagnostics and therapy, based on physical methods
- Non-invasive imaging technologies such as CT, MRI, PET/CT, PET/MRI and radiation therapy technologies
- Radiotracer and radiopharmaceutical drug development including radiochemistry and nuclear chemistry to target cancer cells
- Transfer of novel systemic therapeutic and diagnostic methods into a clinical setting

There are two selection rounds each year. The next application deadline for the Winter Selection 2020/21 is on 15th December 2020.
Due to the current circumstances, the PhD Winter Selection will take place online. Personal interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled from 5 to 26 February 2021.
The deadline for applications for the PhD Summer Selection is on 15 May 2021.
