The Department of Oncology, Department of Medical Physics, Vejle Hospital, is seeking to employ a full time medical physicist as per September the 1st 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. You have started or completed your degree as a medical physicist within oncology, and if you have a PhD in radiotherapy or medical physics, this would be a plus. The position forms part of our department's research and development strategy.
The position involves 25 % research within the department’s RT research team, which is a multidisciplinary team formed of radiotherapy nurses, oncologists and medical physicists. The purpose of the team is to run high level, clinically focused research.
Other tasks primarily include planning and quality assurance of radiation treatment, in close cooperation with the other staff members, and development of new methods. To a lesser degree the position will involve dosimetry, implementation and operation of equipment.
A physicist with experience and interest in research and evidence based radiotherapy; potentially a PhD within the subject. We would be especially interested in applicants skilled in handling complex datasets such as imaging and dose plan data. Applicants experienced in image processing, programming, databases and IT are therefore preferred.
You need to be ambitious, responsible, result oriented, and quality-conscious. We expect you to have good cooperative skills combined with the ability to work independently. You are eager to gain new knowledge and translate it into clinical practice.
Department of Medical Physics is a dynamic group counting 10 physicists, 4 electronics engineers, and 6 radiographers cooperating with other healthcare staff in a multidisciplinary environment.
We receive patients for radiation treatment from the Region of Southern Denmark, which has a basis of 1.1 million patients, and we aim at constant improvement of the treatment.
As to equipment we have a CT and MRI scanner and 5 modern accelerators for external irradiation. Also, we perform MR-guided intracavitary brachytherapy and apply modern techniques for intensity modulated, image guided, 4D, and breath-hold controlled treatments.
