A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics and Biophysics. The successful applicant will participate in an NIH-funded project to co-develop and translate innovative imaging technologies with an established industry partner.
The qualified candidate will work with simulated and measured imaging data sets to design, develop and test novel flat-panel x-ray detectors and innovative reconstruction algorithms for radiation therapy procedures. This will require independent computational work as well as experiment acquisition and analysis. Frequent communication with internal and external collaborators is expected as well as preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations.
Candidates with a PhD, or equivalent, in physics, astronomy, computer science, medical physics, imaging science, engineering or a related subject are invited to apply. We are seeking motivated individuals with well-developed communication skills and the desire and talent to tackle technical problems. Significant programming experience is a must; familiarity with image processing, tomographic reconstruction techniques and/or Monte Carlo simulation packages such as GATE would be valued highly. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform both self-directed and guided research are required. Fellows can participate in clinical training and the department’s CAMPEP-approved certificate program. An appointment will be made as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School.
