We are pleased to inform you that registration is now open for the upcoming EPTN-EURADOS Workshop on Out-of-Field Dosimetry in Proton Therapy: Translation to Clinical Practice, with a Focus on Pregnant Patients. This workshop will be held in Maastricht on Monday, March 10, and Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

 

You can register here (Protected link to office.com). Deadline for registration is February 28. Please note that attendance is limited to 50 participants to facilitate meaningful discussions. In the event this number is reached, a policy will be applied allowing at most one participant per center to attend.

 

The workshop will begin with a half-day of scientific presentations from key experts, providing a shared knowledge baseline for all attendees. The remaining one and a half days will consist of discussions in three subgroups, focused on key aspects of out-of-field dosimetry in proton therapy for pregnant patients. Attached, you can find the preliminary agenda.

The primary objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers specializing in out-of-field dosimetry and medical physicists to address clinical and medical physics considerations related to treating pregnant patients with proton therapy. The workshop will focus on the following key areas:

    Evaluating the current status of proton therapy for pregnant patients, and reviewing existing guidance and consensus in radiotherapy and diagnostics across Europe.
    Initiating the standardization of dose reporting to the fetus, with a focus on estimates that are feasible for clinical users while adhering to formal reporting requirements.
    Providing guidance for proton treatment planning specifically for pregnant patients.
    Encouraging follow-up actions to achieve consensus among medical physicists in proton therapy.

This workshop is free of charge. While hotel accommodation and transport are not covered, lunch, coffee/refreshments, and the social dinner on Monday, 10 March, will be provided.
