Professors of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics
University of Newcastle, Australia
The University of Newcastle’s vision is to stand as a global leader, creating a better future for its regions through innovation, impact, and a commitment to excellence and equity. With the University’s next major initiative being the development of a STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) Precinct, the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences will play a key part in delivering this strategy.
The School has a reputation for the quality of its research and excellence applies equally to the quality of the education experience for students. Under the leadership of the newly appointed Pro Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Science, Professor Lee Smith, the School is now looking to appoint the next generation of high calibre research and teaching academics, including a Professor of Medical Physics and potentially other Medical Physics academics.
Through collaboration locally with the Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital and colleagues in the Faculty of Health & Medicine, as well as with other researchers nationally and internationally, the School has a strong medical physics research track record. Candidates will need to demonstrate leadership in Medical Physics and its applications in any mainstream or emerging area of the field; of particular interest would be imaging or radiation oncology.
